Since the beginning of the Internet phenomenon, successful Web Site owners have been telling me the biggest challenge is keeping their web site current.
Today's "Web 2.0" is really about the ability to easily network, modify and add to your web site on the fly without having to spend a lot of time and money adding or reconfiguring sections, submitting updates to a "web person" to re-code the web site in order to keep up with content updates, social networking, marketing and promotions etc... I get a chuckle when I hear the buzz about "Web 2.0" in the media as if it is something that sprang out of nowhere. The truth is the so called "Web 2.0" has been around for years. However in the last 18 months the world at large has embraced social networking as a part of every day life.
Here is what's really happening right now...
What was an unobvious trend in the early 90's became an obvious trend in the late 90's - That is to say most people by the year 1998 accepted the fact that the internet was going to change the world. Exactly how was not certain but the trend was obvious. Now computers and internet connectivity have become an integral part of our every day business AND lifestyle.
The future...
The internet will continue to be embedded into our lives. This will include just about every aspect of our day to day lifestyle. Everything will be connected. All the things we use in the home, school, work place, transportation and even our person. We will know when we have fully arrived once the internet becomes invisible yet it is everywhere in our lives. Ladies and Gentlemen welcome to the future... The EVERNET.

Back in the day however most of the developers I would speak with thought I was crazy offering web sites that can be easily networked and updated by the owner without having to know how to write/generate code. I would hear this over and over again, "Steve your throwing away all that update money! Update work is where you make the real money!"
